Marson 01160 Short Strand Fiberglass Reinforced Body Filler, 1 gal Green, Liquid/Paste
Built for the job.
3Mโข Short Strand Reinforced Filler, previously known as Marsonยฎ Mar-Glassยฎ, is reinforced with short-strand fiberglass to create water-resistant repairs that are twice the strength of ordinary body fillers. It is a great solution for repairing holes and rust on metal and fiberglass.
Marsonยฎ 01160 Short Strand Fiberglass Reinforced Body Filler is a liquid-to-paste filler designed for rapid repair of structural and cosmetic damage on automotive panels. Formulated with short glass fibers, it provides high strength and sandability for seamless blending on aluminum, steel, fiberglass, plastic, polyester and primed surfaces.
When mixed with 2 % hardener by weight at 77 ยฐF (25 ยฐC), the filler reaches a sandable window of 8-12 minutes, allowing fast turnaround in body shop environments. The low VOC level of 13 lb/gal meets environmental guidelines while delivering consistent coverage on a variety of substrates.
Use requires standard PPE: eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and a respirator in well-ventilated areas. The material has an estimated flash point of 111 ยฐC and is classified for acute toxicity, aspiration hazard, and skin corrosion, so follow the SDS safety protocols.

How to Use
For use as a reinforcement material where a stronger filler is needed when repairing or filling larger gaps in auto body, marine, industrial and architectural surfaces
- Clean and degrease the substrate; ensure the surface is free of oil, rust, and loose material.
- Mix Marson Short Strand filler with hardener at a ratio of 2 % hardener by weight of filler. Stir thoroughly to achieve a uniform blend.
- Apply the mixed filler to the prepared area using a spreader or trowel, shaping it as needed. Apply in one coat; additional coats may be applied after sanding.
- Allow the material to sandable for 8-12 minutes at an ambient temperature of 77 ยฐF (25 ยฐC). During this window, shape and feather the filler before it hardens.
- After the sandable time expires, allow the filler to fully cure before sanding or painting. Follow standard curing times for the specific substrate and environmental conditions.
