3M™ Rigid Pillar Foam is a two part urethane which foams in place to fill posts, pillars, and automotive body cavities with exceptional ease and consistent quality. This foam is easily to apply with a range of manual and pneumatic 3M™ applicators.
3M Automix 08458 Rigid Pillar Foam is a two-component, sprayable polyurethane foam designed for rapid repair of rigid pillars and structural panels in collision work. Delivered in a 200 mL cartridge, the formulation cures to a solid, high-strength fill within 1 hour at ambient temperature.
The foam provides excellent sprayability and can be applied up to ten coats per cartridge, delivering consistent thickness on a wide range of substrates including ABS, aluminum, fiberglass, FRP, steel, wood, and primed surfaces. Its low viscosity allows precise placement in tight pillar cavities while achieving full cure without post-mixing delays.
Because the system is classified as an oxidizer with a flash point of 390 °F (closed cup), proper personal protective equipment-specifically a respirator-and adequate ventilation are required during application. Follow standard first-aid procedures for inhalation, skin, eye, and ingestion exposure as outlined in the SDS.

How to Use
For door hem flanges, door skins, floor pans, general purpose, rear body panels, voids and gaps
- Clean and degrease the substrate (ABS, aluminum, fiberglass, FRP, OEM plastic, primer, SMC, steel, wood) to remove oils, dust, and loose material.
- Load the 200 mL cartridge into a compatible spray gun; the product is formulated for excellent sprayability.
- Apply the foam in thin, even passes. Build up to the specified number of coats (up to 10), allowing each coat to cure before applying the next.
- Allow a minimum of 1 hour curing time between coats and after the final coat before handling or finishing.
