Overview

Built for the job.

2-in-1 primers are a specialty coating designed for easy and convenient priming of metal and plastic parts. These primers help prevent rust and seal out moisture, while providing a smooth base for topcoat application on metal substrates. 2-in-1 primers also have excellent flexibility and adhesion properties that…

TRANSTAR® 4613 2‑in‑1 Primer is a ready‑to‑spray aerosol formulated for rapid sandable priming of a wide range of automotive substrates. It combines adhesion promotion and sanding finish in a single application, making it suitable for panel repair, filler bonding, and finish preparation in body shop environments.

The primer reaches flash time in 5–10 minutes and is sandable within 15–20 minutes, allowing fast turnaround on repair cycles. With a coverage rate of 432 ft² per gallon at a 1 mil film thickness, it provides efficient material usage across aluminum, e‑coat, fiberglass, galvanized steel, OEM finishes, plastics, SMC, and other common substrates. The product maintains a one‑year shelf life when stored properly.

Safety is governed by a Danger signal word. Use eye protection, chemical‑resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator in a well‑ventilated area. The aerosol has a flash point of 104 °C (‑155 °F) and contains multiple GHS hazards, requiring standard PPE and adherence to SDS guidelines.

Why Pros Choose Transtar Autobody Technology TRM

  • Fast drying and flexible
  • Excellent adhesion on metal or plastic substrates
  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Sands easily with superior fill and build

How to Use

For use on metal or plastic surfaces

  1. Clean the substrate thoroughly; remove all dust, oil, rust, and loose material before priming.
  2. Product is ready to spray straight from the can—no mixing ratio or pot life required.
  3. Apply a uniform coat using conventional aerosol technique. Allow a flash time of 5‑10 minutes before handling.
  4. After the coat dries (15‑20 minutes), sand the surface as needed before applying additional coats or topcoat.
  5. Final cure is achieved after the indicated sandable time; the primer can be over‑sprayed with compatible topcoats once fully cured.

Compatibility

Compatible substrates: Plastic.
