3M 8219 2‑Part Repair Adhesive, 200 mL Duo Syringe Cartridge, Dark Green
Built for the job.
3M™ SMC/Fiberglass repair adhesives are two-part urethanes or two-part epoxies used to bond backup strips to SMC (sheet molded compound), FRP (traditional fiberglass) and primed metal. Our adhesives provide a full range of hardness, flexibility and worktimes for jobs such as reinforcing the backside of plastic…
3M 08219 is a two-part, viscous liquid repair adhesive supplied in a 200 mL dual-syringe cartridge (mix ratio 1:1-1.2). It is designed for structural bonding and filler work on automotive panels, providing high strength repairs on substrates such as aluminum, steel, bare metal, fiberglass, FRP, OEM polyester, and SMC.
The formulation reaches full cure in 3 hours with a sandable window that extends the same 3-hour period, allowing ample time for contouring. Working time is 35 minutes at an application temperature range of 40 °F to 180 °F (-40 °C to 82 °C), ensuring reliable performance across typical shop environments. The adhesive's rapid cure and extended sandable time support efficient panel reconstruction without sacrificing finish quality.
Due to its classification as acute toxicity, aspiration hazard, carcinogen, and flammable oxidizer, proper personal protective equipment is required: eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator in well-ventilated areas. Follow standard first-aid procedures for inhalation, skin, eye, or ingestion exposure.

How to Use
For backside reinforcement repair on a variety of plastic components
- Clean and dry the substrate (aluminum, steel, fiberglass, FRP, OEM polyester/SMC) to remove oil, rust, and loose material.
- Mix the two parts in a 1 : 1.2 ratio by weight; blend thoroughly for the specified pot life of 35 minutes at 40-180 °F (-40 °C to 82 °C).
- Apply the adhesive with a suitable brush or spatula, covering the repair area in a single coat.
- Allow the material to set for up to 3 hours before sanding; it becomes sandable at this time.
