A fast drying lacquer-based spray paint that provides durable indoor and outdoor protection. Resistant to the effects of weather and many chemicals. Resists abrasion and heat (250 deg F). Bare surfaces or rusted metal surfaces should first be primed with our Spruce® primers to ensure proper adhesion.
SEYMOUR® Spruce® 98-18 is a fast-drying lacquer spray paint formulated for quick, high-quality finishes on automotive body panels. Delivered in a 16 fl-oz aerosol can, it provides a uniform black coating ideal for final color passes and touch-up work where speed and consistency are critical.
The formulation offers a recoat time of just 20 minutes and can cover up to 15 sq-ft per can when applied at the recommended temperature range of 50-90 °F. It adheres well to aluminum, e-coat surfaces, primed substrates, and wood, making it versatile for mixed-material repairs. Shelf life is guaranteed for two years under proper storage conditions.
Because the product contains flammable solvents, carcinogenic components, and compressed gas, appropriate PPE-eye protection, gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator-is required. Apply in a well-ventilated area and follow all H-statements (H222, H280, H319, H336, H351, H361, H373) for safe handling.

Application Guide
- Clean the substrate (aluminum, e-coat, primer, or wood) and remove all contaminants; ensure the surface is dry.
- Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least 1 minute to suspend pigments uniformly.
- Apply a light, even spray coat within the recommended temperature range of 50 °F-90 °F.
- Allow the first coat to flash for 20 minutes before applying additional coats, if needed, to achieve full coverage (up to 15 sq-ft per can).
- After final coat, let the finish cure under the same temperature conditions; the product maintains a shelf life of 2 years when stored properly.
