SEYMOUR® Spruce® 98-3 Enamel Spray Paint is a high-performance, black enamel formulated for automotive bodywork and collision repair. Delivered in a 16 fl-oz aerosol can, it provides up to 15 sq ft of coverage per can, making it suitable for touch-up panels, trim, and small panel refinishing.
The formulation offers a rapid recoat window of 30 minutes when applied within the recommended temperature range of 50-90 °F. It adheres well to e-coat, primer, and wood substrates, allowing seamless integration with existing surface preparations. Shelf life is guaranteed for two years under proper storage conditions.
Due to its flammable nature (flash point -19 °C) and classification as a carcinogen and eye irritant, use requires full PPE: eye protection, gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator in a well-ventilated area. Application Guide
- Inspect the substrate (e-coat, primer, or wood) for contaminants; clean and dry the surface to a tack-free condition.
- Verify ambient temperature is between 50 °F and 90 °F. Shake the 16 fl-oz aerosol can vigorously for at least one minute before use.
- Apply the first coat in even, overlapping passes, holding the nozzle 6-8 inches from the surface. Use a light spray to achieve uniform coverage (up to 15 sq-ft per can).
- Allow the first coat to flash for 30 minutes (recoat time) before applying additional coats.
- If full opacity is required, apply a second coat using the same technique after the 30-minute flash period.
- After the final coat, let the finish cure under the specified temperature range; handling should be avoided until fully cured (typically 24 hours).
