Dual-Mix™ 40177 Heavy Bodied Seam Sealer is a two-component, gray liquid designed for high-strength seam repair on automotive panels. It is formulated to bond bare metal, OEM finishes, and primer layers, providing a flexible yet durable seal before final coating.
The sealer cures to full strength in 1 hour at 70 °F (21 °C) with a work time of approximately 10 minutes under the same conditions, allowing rapid turnaround in body shop environments. Its heavy-bodied consistency ensures excellent sag resistance and gap filling on structural seams, reducing the need for multiple builds.
Handling requires strict safety controls: wear eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator. The product has a flash point of 249 °C and is classified with acute toxicity, aquatic toxicity, carcinogenicity, eye damage, reproductive hazards, and skin corrosion (H315, H317, H319, H350, H361). Use in a well-ventilated area and follow first-aid procedures for inhalation, skin contact, or eye exposure.

How to Use
For use on interior or exterior seams, joints and voids
- Clean the substrate thoroughly; ensure the surface is bare metal, OEM finish, or primer and free of oil, grease, and loose material.
- Mix the Dual-Mix™ 40177 Heavy Bodied Seam Sealer according to the manufacturer's instructions; note that the work (flash) time is 10 minutes at 70°F (21°C).
- Apply a single uniform coat with a suitable brush or trowel, covering seams and gaps completely.
- Allow the seam sealer to cure for 1 hour at 70°F (21°C) before handling or proceeding to subsequent finishing operations.
