Dual-Mix™ 40277 Heavy Bodied Seam Sealer is a two-component liquid sealant supplied in a 7 oz cartridge, formulated for high-strength seam repair on automotive bodies. It is intended for use over bare metal, OEM finishes, and primed surfaces where a robust, flexible bond is required.
The formulation cures to full strength in 1 hour at 70 °F (21 °C) with an open work time of approximately 10 minutes under the same conditions. This rapid cure cycle minimizes shop floor downtime while providing sufficient flash time for proper bead placement and tooling. The sealant's heavy-bodied consistency ensures good sag resistance on vertical seams.
Due to its acute toxicity, carcinogenicity, and skin/eye corrosive properties, appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory: chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, and a respirator when ventilation is limited. The flash point is 249 °C; store the cartridge in a cool, dry environment away from ignition sources.

How to Use
For use on interior or exterior seams, joints and voids
- Clean the substrate (bare metal, OEM coating, or primer) to remove dust, oil, and loose material; ensure it is dry.
- Mix the two components of the Dual-Mix™ 40277 cartridge thoroughly before the end of the 10-minute work time.
- Apply a uniform coat with a brush, roller, or spray gun. Do not exceed the 10-minute flash window.
- If additional thickness is required, apply a second coat after the first has cured for 1 hour at 70 °F (21 °C).
