Dual-Mix™ 40977 Sound and Seal Sprayable Coating is a 7 oz dark gray liquid formulated for rapid sound dampening and sealing of automotive panels. It is applied by spray to eliminate wind noise, vibration, and minor surface imperfections on bare metal, OEM finishes, or primed substrates.
The coating offers a work time of 10 minutes at 70 °F (21 °C) and reaches full cure in 1 hour under the same conditions, allowing fast turnaround in high-volume shops. Its low flash point of 111 °C provides stable handling while delivering consistent film thickness for reliable acoustic performance.
Due to its acute toxicity and skin corrosivity, use requires eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator with adequate ventilation. Follow H302, H315, H317, H319, H335, and H351 safety statements and consult the SDS for first-aid procedures.

Application Guide
- Clean the substrate thoroughly; remove rust, oil, grease, and any loose material. Ensure the surface is dry and at approximately 70 °F (21 °C).
- No mixing required - the Dual-Mix™ 40977 coating is supplied ready-to-spray.
- Using a spray gun, apply the first coat evenly within the 10-minute work window. Maintain proper atomization for uniform coverage.
- If additional coverage is needed, apply a second coat after the first has dried (approximately 10-15 minutes). Keep each pass within the 10-minute work time.
- Allow the final coat to cure for 1 hour at 70 °F (21 °C) before handling or applying topcoats.
