TRANSTAR® 4516 Adhesion Promoter is a 4-oz formulation designed to improve tape adhesion on plastic and primer surfaces before coating or clear coat application.
The promoter dries to touch in approximately 5 minutes, allowing rapid workflow while maintaining low VOC emissions at 6.88 lb/gal (824 g/L). It is compatible with a range of substrates including plastics and primed metal, providing consistent bonding without additional primers.
Use requires standard PPE: eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator in well-ventilated areas. The product carries a "Warning" signal word and includes H-statements for flammability, toxicity, and carcinogenicity; follow the SDS for first-aid procedures.

How to Use
For use on bare steel, aluminum and galvanized surfaces
- Clean the substrate (plastic or primed surface) to remove dust, oil, and loose material.
- Apply a thin, uniform coat of TRANSTAR® 4516 Adhesion Promoter using a spray gun or brush.
- Allow the promoter to flash for 5 minutes; it is dry to touch at this time.
- If additional coats are required, repeat application after the 5-minute flash period.
- Clean tools and any excess promoter with the appropriate Transtar attachment tape adhesion promoter cleaner as recommended.
