TRANSTAR® 4643 is a 2-in-1 matte black trim coating supplied in a 20 oz aerosol can, formulated for rapid field repair and finish work on automotive trim components. The product is ready to spray from the container, eliminating mixing steps and providing consistent application on a variety of substrates.
With a flash point of 96.4 °C (-141 °F) and a cure window of 5-10 minutes, the coating achieves a solid film quickly, supporting high-throughput shop operations. It adheres to aluminum, e-coat, fiberglass, galvanized steel, OEM plastics, primers, SMC, and standard steel surfaces, offering versatile compatibility across typical trim materials. The VOC content is 2.86 lb/gal (342 g/L), and the aerosol remains stable for up to one year when stored properly.
Due to its classification as a Danger product with acute toxicity, aspiration hazard, and flammability, use requires full PPE: eye protection, gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator in a well-ventilated area. How to Use
For use on metal or plastic surfaces
- Clean the substrate thoroughly to remove oil, grease, dust, and loose material; ensure it is dry.
- No mixing required - the aerosol is ready to spray directly from the can.
- Apply a uniform first coat using conventional spraying technique. Hold the nozzle 6-8 in (15-20 cm) from the surface and use overlapping passes.
- Allow the first coat to flash for 5-10 minutes before applying additional coats, if needed.
- Apply a second coat using the same technique; maintain the 5-10 minute flash time between coats.
- After the final coat, allow an additional 5-10 minutes of curing before handling or re-coating.
