TRANSTAR® 6121-F Activator is a clear, liquid catalyst formulated for use with Self Etching Primer in automotive refinishing applications. It provides rapid flash and sandable windows to accelerate the coating cycle while maintaining consistent performance on a wide range of substrates.
The activator delivers a dry time of 15 minutes and a sandable window of up to 60 minutes, allowing technicians to progress quickly through prep and sanding steps. With a coverage rate of 213 ft² per gallon at a 1-mil film thickness, it offers efficient material usage. The product is compatible with aluminum, bare metal, e-coat, fiberglass, galvanized steel, OEM plastics, polyester, primer, SMC, and standard steel surfaces. Its pot life extends up to five days when stored at 70 °F (21 °C) and 50 % relative humidity, providing flexibility for batch mixing.

- Ensure the substrate (aluminum, steel, fiberglass, etc.) is clean, dry, and free of contaminants before applying.
- Use the activator as supplied; no mixing ratio required. Note that the pot life is up to 5 days when stored at 70°F (21°C) and 50% RH.
- Apply a uniform coat over the prepared surface using spray or brush, in conjunction with the compatible self-etching primer.
- Allow the activator to dry for approximately 15 minutes before handling.
- If sanding is required, wait until the material reaches its sandable window-about 60 minutes after application.
