TRANSTAR Ultra Flex 4162 is a brush-applicable seam sealer designed for automotive structural repairs where a flexible, paint-ready finish is required. Formulated as a low-viscosity gray liquid, it fills weld seams, panel gaps and repair joints on a wide range of substrates.
Key performance attributes include a 5-minute work time that allows rapid tacking before flash-off, and a VOC content of 2.82 lb/gal (338 g/L) to meet environmental regulations. The sealer adheres to aluminum, bare metal, e-coat, fiberglass, galvanized steel, OEM plastics, primers, SMC and standard steel, providing consistent coverage without sagging.
Safety handling follows a "Warning" signal word; use eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and a respirator in a well-ventilated area. The product contains acute toxicity, carcinogenic and flammable components (H225, H315, H350, H360, H370, H372, H401). Follow first-aid instructions for inhalation, skin contact, eye exposure, or ingestion as outlined on the SDS.

How to Use
For all types of painted surfaces, bare metal and primed surfaces
- Clean and degrease the substrate (aluminum, bare metal, e-coat, fiberglass, galvanized steel, OEM plastic, primer, SMC) to remove contaminants.
- Using a brush, apply a uniform coat of TRANSTAR® Ultra Flex™ 4162 Seam Sealer over the seam.
- Work within the 5-minute work time; allow the sealer to flash for approximately 5 minutes before handling or applying additional coats.
- If a second coat is required, repeat steps 2-3 after the first coat has flashed.
