Can be used for spot, panel or overall repairs. Air dry, low bake or I.R. cure. Excellent flow and non-sag properties. Easy to sand and polish.
U-POL® SYSTEM 20 UP2882 is a universal clear coat supplied in a 1 gal container with a 4:1 mix ratio (clear to hardener). It is designed for final topcoat applications on e-coat primed panels, providing high gloss and durable protection in automotive refinishing.
The formulation offers a VOC content of 4.38 lb/gal and can be re-coated up to eight hours after application, after which sanding is required. Its fast flash time of 22 °C supports efficient production cycles while maintaining the necessary pot life for uniform film build. The clear coat adheres well to e-coat substrates, delivering consistent coverage and chemical resistance.
Due to its classification as acute toxicity, carcinogen, flammable liquid, and oxidizer, proper personal protective equipment is mandatory: safety glasses, nitrile gloves, flame-resistant clothing, and a respirator with appropriate filters. Application Guide
- Prepare the substrate: ensure e-coat surface is clean, dry, and free of contaminants before coating.
- Mix the clear coat at a 4 : 1 ratio (U-POL® SYSTEM 20 UP2882 : U-POL® UP230). Stir thoroughly; note that pot life is not specified in the data sheet.
- Apply the first coat using the recommended spray equipment. Allow to flash/dry according to ambient conditions before proceeding.
- If a second or additional coat is required, wait up to 8 hours after the previous coat; then sand the surface lightly before re-coating.
- After final coat, allow full cure as per shop standards (no specific cure time provided in the data).
