USC® 2820™ 2K Urethane Primer Surfacer builds fast, levels smoothly, dries quickly and sands easily to a smooth surface that resists sand scratch swelling. 2820™ Primer Surfacer is ideal for use on treated bare substrates, sanded OE finishes and body fillers.
USC® 2820-1 is a two-component urethane primer surfacer supplied in a 1 gal gray can, designed for high-quality basecoat preparation on plastic and previously primed substrates. The formulation provides a uniform, sandable film that promotes adhesion of subsequent coating layers.
Mixed at a ratio of 4 parts 2820 2K urethane primer to the appropriate hardener, the material offers a pot life of 2 hours at 75 °F/50 % RH and reaches full cure in approximately 2 hours. Coverage is rated at 5.12 sq ft per gallon, delivering efficient material usage while maintaining consistent film thickness.
Handling requires standard PPE: eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and a respirator. Use in a well-ventilated area; the product carries a "Warning" signal word and is classified for acute toxicity, carcinogenicity, flammability, respiratory irritation, and skin corrosion.

How to Use
For bare substrates, sanded OE finishes, body fillers
- Clean the substrate (plastic or previously primed surface) to remove dust, oil, and loose material.
- Mix 4 parts of USC 2820-1 urethane primer with the appropriate hardener according to the 4:1 ratio. Stir until uniform; the mixed material has a pot life of 2 hours at 75 °F/50% RH.
- Apply the first coat by spraying or rolling to achieve an even film. Allow the coat to flash for the recommended time (dry to touch) before proceeding.
- If additional coverage is required, apply a second coat after the first has dried. Ensure each coat is within the 2-hour pot life window.
- Allow the final coat to cure for at least 2 hours under the specified conditions before handling or topcoating.
