3M Windo-Weld 08612 is a black paste round-ribbon sealer supplied on a 3/8 in × 15 ft roll. It is designed for sealing seams, joints, and fasteners in automotive body repair before final coating or painting.
The formulation offers excellent sprayability and can be applied in up to ten coats without loss of adhesion. It adheres to a wide range of substrates including ABS, aluminum, fiberglass, FRP, OEM plastics, primer, SMC, steel, and wood, making it suitable for mixed-material repairs. The high coat count provides flexibility for thick-section sealing while maintaining a uniform film.
Handling requires full PPE: eye protection, chemical-resistant gloves, and a respirator with appropriate filter cartridges. Use in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhalation of dust or mist. Relevant hazard statements include H066, H210, H304, H372, H400, and H410.

How to Use
For automotive applications
- Clean and dry the substrate (e.g., steel, aluminum, fiberglass, wood, plastic) to remove dust, oil, or loose material.
- Verify that the surface temperature is within the recommended range for spraying.
- Apply the ribbon sealer with a spray gun, using even passes. Follow the specified number of coats (up to 10).
- Allow appropriate flash time between each coat before applying the next layer.
