Where to find the paint code on a Mazda

Newer Mazdas: on the label on the driver's door jamb (the B-pillar). Older Mazdas: on the ID plate on the firewall, in the engine bay.

The code is two or three characters, now usually three: 46G Machine Gray Metallic, 25D Snowflake White Pearl Mica. 46V Soul Red Crystal Metallic and 41V Soul Red Metallic are different reds, so check which one your label says.

The VIN does not contain the paint code, but a Mazda dealer can look the code up from it. Can't find the label? The finder lists every Mazda color by year and model.

Why do Mazda tri-coat colors come as two cans?

A tri-coat gets its depth from two separate components: a color basecoat, then a translucent pearl mid-coat sprayed over it. They can't be combined in one can, so we supply both, each mixed for your exact code, and you finish with clear. How much paint do I need?
